Secret Santa

Christmas. It was one of the few holidays celebrated universe-wide. Skye usually enjoyed Christmas, but this year, the Halves were doing a 'secret santa' gifting program. The last year had been crazy and chaotic with all the presents to be made, bought, and given. It was a happy chaos, though, the kind she loved.
The 'secret santa' gift event wouldn't have been a problem, if she hadn't drawn May as the person to gift. May the quiet. May the peaceful. May, the person Skye could hardly stand.

She'd heard it on the news. Everyone had heard it on the news. One of the 'freaks of nature' had developed unnatural abilities. The emperor wanted the freaks-the Halves-rounded up. He'd claimed that the last of the Ayuns were no longer welcome. Their peace was all a trick, in order to mix the blood of humans and Ayuns and create an army from their children. They had to be eliminated, and the Halves imprisoned.
And it just so happened that Skye was one of them.
